The family took a spontaneous trip to Vacaville, CA, hometown of...... outlet malls. Anyway, it's pretty close in proximity to Marine World in Vallejo and sh-sh-shopping in Walnut Creek. We vetoed Marine World when we found out they charge upwards of $50 PER PERSON, and instead we went to a family fun park nearby. And of course shopping in Walnut Creek. Heh heh. Wahoo...! It was great. have I mentioned before that I LOVE H&M? Well I do. Love it.
Great weekend... we stayed in a Marriott which (by the way) has the MOST COMFORTABLE beds of any hotel we've ever stayed in. And it was the cheapest of the Marriotts too. Another happy coincidence that happened, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night so we had to haul the sleepy/scared kids outside in our pj's and stand around waiting for the firemen to come. Something was on fire on the first floor. Anyway, besides the fact that we were exhausted and everything, it worked out well because they comp'ed us the room for both nights!!! So a free stay at Marriott. Totally worth the inconvenience of the fire. :)

After golfing, the kids played for a long time in the kid playland. It was enormous, the entire building (two stories) was criss-crossed with climbing tunnels, slides, and jumpy ball areas. It was huge, and a bit intimidating for the kids. Selina kept getting lost up high and we had to go rescue her. (that was kinda fun!)

Camping!
We had a great time camping two weekends ago... our friends Bridge and Nancy and their kidlets, Silver and Kaolin, joined us for three days of fun. We stayed a day longer than planned because we wanted to avoid the high temps in Chico. Chico was supposed to be in the 110's that weekend, so we were really appreciating the mountain temps, which struck into the low 90's at the hottest part of the day. We camped right on the river, and had a very secluded campsite. The last of the sites, really, so nobody really bothered us at all. Once the kids were in bed at night the adults played cards and hooped and hollered and sang very loudly (my ears still hurt... sorry Bridge) :) With the extended stay, we were cutting it pretty close as far as food was concerned... but we made do. Which was pretty fun, actually. I'm proud of us. :) Anyway, lots of fun, and I hope we do it again soon.
