Did I say that out loud?

A small tale from the land of Brooke that unfolded just one minute ago...

Selina was wanting to "play" with the folded laundry in the basket...(note to new moms: not a good idea) When I told her "No, don't play with that", she walked away saying matter-of-factly to herself "I'm gonna shut the door so you don't see me". She will soon realize that announcing her intentions out loud somehow messes up her plans. Until she gets it, it's sure nice that her answers are automatically honest... it saves me some work.

My first Spring picture! I haven't cleaned out my flower beds yet, but just wanted to share the joy of the first spring bloom.

Look! An update!

Hi everyone! ;)

I'm actually updating! I know, it's just kid stuff that only I and the grandmas will appreciate, but it does qualify as an update. We've had so many rainy days lately that there hasn't been much inspiration for picture taking! Maybe I'll take my camera to work and take some pictures of my cute massage room and my friends there.

Anyway, yesterday was the first moderately sunny day we've had so far this spring! Usually this time in April we're well into the 70's and everyone has a tan. We're water-logged, just like the rest of you! :) So last night was the first Thurs night Farmer's Market downtown Chico. It was crowded, just the usual. Some good live music. I met Kelly for a girlie dinner downtown, and we had a good time as always. We were shocked (and I was appalled) later at the restaurant when a birthday girl's friends had a male stripper show up and do all kinds of naughty and inappropriate things to her right in the middle of the restaurant! Later, I reflected a bit on how much I was like my mother at that moment. There were kids in that restaurant! I was just glad that my kids weren't there.

And in other news..... my mom is flying in on Monday! YAYAAYAYAY! We're so looking forward to her visit. I will try not to work her too hard since she is viewing this as a "break". (Break? Hah!) She's been working really hard lately helping everyone up there move and settle and taking care of her house by herself. So I might leave the kids with her to escape on my own just maybe twice. Or thrice. :) I'm already planning my getaway tactics.

Massage therapy has really picked up for me in the past three weeks, hence the lack of updating and emailing. Sorry....but I'm tired.

I'm going to a baby shower tomorrow for Gina Wang (used to be Newsom) she's due in early June.

That's all folks. Have a GREAT weekend!

He says "Teeeese!" when he sees me with the camera.

So happy with daddy!

Whee! I'm sliding by myself!

Wait a second...

I changed my mind! I changed my mind!

I'm blue...

Well, the sky is anyway. Gone (for now) are our bleary wintery days. We woke up to a bright blue morning, went to get a latte` and cin. roll, and had a good time at the park for a while. Peyton is such a dare devil on those huge playground contraptions, so we don't really relax on the sidelines like I always thought moms did all day, ("How hard could that be, lounging park-side, chatting with other laid-back mommies and tanning your legs while your kids play?") Not exactly that ideal. But wait another year or so, and I'll be out there tanning and reading my Fitness mags while the kids frolic safely.

I guess you can tell that today I'm full of randomness. Nothing much going on in these here parts. I've been missing everyone's birthdays lately, I misplaced last year's calendar (which has all the dates marked). So I apologize, everyone... bad Brooke. I have failed as an Auntie.

And to complete the circle of randomness, happy St. Patty's day. Hope you all wore green and weren't in-appropriately pinched by strangers. I didn't wear green, and that's a story that I won't be sharing today.

The big garage/remodel project is looming in the near future. We will probably get started tearing down within 5 months or so, selling half of our junk in the process. Anyone need a crib set? Dresser? Camping gear? Come on down!

Update-wise, I am really loving my job at the club. I've been doing an average of four massages a week, which has been perfect for me. I've gotten my training into a neater schedule too, I take two days off a week, usually Sunday and Thursday. Selina is really loving pre-school, and we're throwing around ideas about sending her for a couple of full days as well. That all depends. And Peyton is picking up words like crazy lately! He does the cutest things. I think that so far this is my fave kid stage. I'm learning more about his personality, he is very particular about messes. Pointing at every little spill or mess and saying "Uh-oh!" and rushing to clean it himself. That will prove usefull when he learns how to work a mop. Which is the next thing I will try to teach him. :)

This is getting long, so I will go bug Lee with my randomness now.

Love to everyone!

Good Morning!

What's up with all this SNOW?!! It's been snowing off and on for the last three days. Temps yesterday never rose above 36! I'm not sure anymore if we're still in California. Isn't it supposed to be warm here? At least that's what they told me.

All this snowing brings to mind a fun vacation that Derek and Sara just took that we're not talking about. While we're not talking about it, how bout next time you come the extra bit to Paradise? I can no longer promise that we won't be snowed in, but at least our guest house isn't out of some horror film (oops, that slipped out).

Hope everyone is toasty warm this morning. We'll attempt to get to Chico for meeting, but we may have to move in with someone down there if we can't get back up the ridge.

Bye! ;)

Selina got this yogurt from the fridge when I wasn't looking, and decided to "cook" with it (all over the dining room). Looks like Peyton thought it was shampoo.

Winter wonderland!

**SNOW!**
It started snowing this morning, and continued steadily while I was at the club. By 1:00 when I left the club, we had 4 inches, and some roads weren't passable! It was so much fun! Everyone was getting all excited, the schools sent all of the kids home, and the gym was empty. It was just my trainer, me and one other person working out in the whole club by the time I left. Amazing how snow just stops all life here! :) You Minnesotans will appreciate that. It's a grand excuse to go home from work early, and not do anything all day long. Photos following!

The new big girl pose. Selina does this for all of her pictures now. Isn't she fierce! :)

Look at all this great wet cold white stuff!

Driving home from the club today

snow snow snow!

Trees by the club, laden with new snow

The snow at the house didn't stick around very long. In fact just one hour later skies were blue and the ground was bare except for a few snowy patches.

My health club, all snowy.

The door to Selina's classroom. Selina goes to school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Wahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heading out the door to her FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!

Here's that big pre-schooler pose again! After her first day, on our way to get ice cream!

Eliseo and Natalie left this morning at 2 am. Hopefully their train ride isn't too harrowing! On the way down, the train was delayed for 7 hours!! Can you imagine!? They had to sit and wait at every track crossing for other trains to go by. So we were expecting them at 4:00 am, and they didn't arrive until 11:00.

It was fun to have them here. We had a good time in Chico, just sauntering around and enjoying the weather. When they got here on Friday, it was 36 degrees and snowing! But it warmed up fast, and now it's in the low 60's again. Sheesh, our weather. (rolling eyes)

Lots to do today, ciao!
